As soon as I get the final pricing on all of the items and logistics squared away I will be launching another Kickstarter for a set of eight Mercury spacecraft art patches. Initially I was going to release just two round patches to augment the Eagle One Aerospace set, but because that set is becoming harder and harder to put together or find as a complete set, I decided to release a new set of patches with my own little spin and add the two proposed mission patches to that set ("Delta 7" and "Freedom 7-II"). Like the Eagle One Aerospace set, I will also make available a limited number (tentatively 20) 20x16" posters that the patches affix to, suitable for framing. Price: To be decided. Here's a sample of the artwork and the poster that will be released:

I am happy to announce the official kick off of the Mercury Spacecraft Art Patches Kickstarter campaign. I want to thank everyone for their feedback on the materials. I have decided to go with embroidered to maximize the detail possible. This is the most ambitious Kickstarter campaign that Retrorocket Emblems has attempted but I think it is an achievable goal! It is a two week long campaign and if you only get charged for the reward you select if the campaign is fully funded. You can purchase the patches or the patches with a poster for mounting/framing. |

I’m not really clear on why these are being done as patches. I’d think stamping them out of metal with a slight curve would have made a nice display. |

I like the idea of metal, but I am first a patch collector and secondarily a patch designer, so embroidered patches are my natural go-to for a medium. Metal would be an area well outside my area of expertise, so I wouldn't know where to begin and how the cost would compare. I also am more familiar with the patch collecting market and target audience than the general space collectible realm in general, if that makes sense? It may be a limiting factor, designing just for other patch collectors, but that's the space I am most familiar with. |

Liem, have you considered including the start of the "crack" painted on Liberty Bell 7, which begins on the panel to the left of the stenciled spacecraft name on the spacecraft? |

Just for clarification on the $150 price for two sets of patches: That tier will include posters for both.

Thank you to everyone who backed the campaign, it has been fully funded and then some. In the coming days I will evaluate where things stand to determine if I should offer a "stretch goal" (a reward for everyone if we hit another milestone) or if I just want to add in another reward. I did this with the last SpaceX patch Kickstarter campaign, I designed an extra patch for everyone. More later! |

Great news that the target has been hit already! Selfishly hoping for an Enos Mercury 5 patch if you decide to go for another one! |

I like the idea of the MA-5 Enos for the stretch goal. I've also always thought that this early Mercury badge design would be cool as an embroidered patch, haven't seen it done before. |

Lou, you can back the project on the Kickstarter site. You can purchase them directly from me after the Kickstarter closes, but I can't guarantee the same prices. |

It was never official, but in my head hitting the $3,000 mark meant everyone gets a bonus reward as a thank you for their support. Today I make it official: every backer gets a special bonus commemorative patch with their order. I liked the idea of another Mercury-related patch, so I went with an original Enos comparative patch. Here's what it looks like so far: |

The second bonus patch milestone was reached by the skin of it's teeth! This will be a Gemini 5 crew souvenir patch replica patch, which, to my knowledge, has not yet been produced in replica form.I do have one survey question for the backers (and patch collectors in general, really): Do you prefer replicas of vintage patches to have cloth or plastic backing? Thank you! |

Liem, will the Gemini 5 crew replica patch be available for purchase through your website, or is it only for Kickstarter backers of this project? |

Job well done on these patches! The shingle design is great and the execution of the artwork, though not as large, is far superior to some previous examples I have in my collection. |

I appreciate everyone's feedback for this set. It was quite an ambitious one and covid-19 did throw a bit of a spanner into the works. I was notified that a few folks received a bent poster so I am sending out replacements next week.If you would like to order a set, you can now find them for sale at Retrorocket Emblems. As for what's next, here are some of my thoughts: - Apollo 7 - on hold, but only due to material availability
- SpaceX SNx commemoratives- I will probably produce something for the prototype activities at Boca Chica
- An Artemis patch (happening)
- PVC NASA Meatball replica of the one spotted on the SpaceX flight suit (gathering info on this one still)
I am always open to suggestions, too. |

I like the PVC NASA patch idea. I'd go in for a full set including the PVC flag and the NASA worm (although it looks to made of the suit outer fabric). |

I received my set yesterday (after the Dragon launch, which was a nice contrast). Very impressive work Liem, thank you very much. I can see these being highly sort after in future. |
