This Apollo 8 patch that has been in our family since at least 1972. I cannot find a similar patch – gold piping, thick black felt backing — on the web, and wondered if you might have information/knowledge about this item?

I am being told this might be a "bullion" patch, likely produced for/at/by Kennedy Space Center.
