I bought this STS-104/ISS-7A "Airlock" patch on eBay and would appreciate any information about who made it, when it was made, how many were made and was it made only for the STS-104 crew, etc. I have only seen one of these patches (the one I bought) and didn't know it existed until I saw a signed photo of it.  |

This ISS-7A STS-104 Airlock patch is just one patch in a set of "ISS Assembly Flight Emblems" (Payload Patches). Some "official" but a fair number are "unofficial" or "privately commissioned." These patches were produced just before the time of each ISS construction mission. Though some were produced at the design stage or just before or during the construction stage on Earth.A large number of these ISS Assembly patches can be seen on SpaceFacts.de, then click on each shuttle mission from STS-88 onwards through to STS-135. There were an unknown number of manufacturers producing these patches, in some cases more than just one who made a particular patch. (This being the case for the ISS-7A STS-104 Airlock patch), there are two different versions of this same basic design. Two of the main manufacturers were AB Emblem and Cape Kennedy medals (under the name of Tom Foley, Spaceworld-USA). The numbers produced by AB Emblem was small, probably just 50 or maybe 100 of each patch. As for Spaceworld-USA, it probably runs into the thousands for each patch they manufactured? | |
