Here is the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's (JAXA) patch for Takuya Onishi's Expedition 48/49 stay onboard the International Space Station:

We can see his patch on his suit... so the patches are produced.

Today at the press conference in Baikonur French astronaut Thomas Pesquet had a pin with Onishi's personal logo. Thomas is a back up crew memeber.
