N & P are both equally impressive.Looks like a 2 horse race. As per CRASH's comments earlier, I prefer "P" but would be happy with either. When will you be announcing the finished design Robert? |

If this is the vote, I vote for N. |

I think P has brought inspiration to an already classic design theme. Definitely P. |

Like most everyone, I'll proudly wear whichever is chosen. But I much prefer "P". Yes, Robert, cS was born during the shuttle program and on the Apollo 11 anniversary, but what you have created has grown to international proportions. It must certainly have exceeded what you dreamed it would and that should be acknowledged. I believe it's better to be inclusive. That being said, I can appreciate the comments that "P" doesn't flow as well, or is too busy. May I offer a solution? Reduce the size of the ISS and re-orientate the arrays so that it more closely fits the orbital flow. I know you mentioned that you would want the ISS to be more defined than "O" but I contend that even a simple illustration that depicts the arrays will be recognized as the ISS. It too has an iconic shape. In support of this suggestion, I offer as an example the Expedition 23 patch. Look at how small it is and how very small the ISS was depicted. No one ever confused it as something else. Oh and make the arrays gold. |

P for me ... but can we start with "voting buttons" so we have an idea which design is "winning"? |

Tallying up the votes since the final "N" and "P" options were presented, I believe we have a clear winner. There were 7 votes for "P" and 18 votes for "N", making "N" the clear favorite. I want to thank everyone who submitted designs, including Dennis Gillam, Tim Gagnon, Bob Sorenson, Chris Lee, Jorge Cartes, David Carey, Declan Gilligan and the designer of "N" — the new patch for collectSPACE — Dave Ginsberg! |

This is an excellent choice - really any of the final M-P designs seemed appropriate though the 'cleaner' aspects of N certainly appeal to me. Like it a lot and well done Dave! |

Thank you very much, Robert ... and to all the rest of the cS community! Again, it has been gratifying to see the positive responses to my designs. I am very proud to have created the artwork that has ultimately been chosen to represent collectSPACE and its members. As is evidenced by the quality of the artists' contributions and the lively discussion, there is much artistic creativity and passion among this group. I have appreciated all the comments and constructive suggestions from cS members. I think that it can be said that, together, we all had some influence to the final design. The patch design was a fun one for me to do. It was one of those times when inspiration struck, and I had to get it out of my head and onto the screen. Once I started, the right references were there, and it all fell together. The fact that so many people liked it is icing on the cake. Thank you for the chance to contribute to collectSPACE, and for opening up the patch creation activity to us all. |

We have a new about the insignia page, too. Like the mission patches worn by astronauts, cosmonauts and other space explorers, the official collectSPACE logo represents our "mission" to document space history and follow the exchange of the information and artifacts that have come as humankind has pushed further out into the solar system. The iconic silhouettes of the Apollo spacecraft and space shuttle orbiter symbolize the history of spaceflight, as well as the history of collectSPACE: this website first debuted on the anniversary of the first moon landing and emerged as a leading news source during the latter missions of the space shuttle program. The orbital trajectories represent the progression of history as well as the interactions between collectSPACE's world-wide readership, as they have traded their knowledge and memorabilia from the missions they have followed, helped make possible or, as in some cases, have even flown. The distant spacecraft stands for the future of spaceflight, and the on-going discoveries made while researching the history of space exploration. The insignia was designed by space artist Dave Ginsberg, with input from the collectSPACE community. |

I agree, the new insignia does look good. It is immediately noticeable when you open the page. Gives it a whole fresh look. |

Immediateley catches the eye. Well designed and good looking patch. And although this wonderful website doesn't really need it, added kudos. |

I've just realised another reason I like the patch so much, there is a slight nod to the Apollo 8 emblem which was my introduction to spaceflight as an 8-year-old. |

I have been lurking in the background and have not commented as I don't have an artistic eye, but now that the selection has been made I must say that I was very impressed with all the talent of the cS members. Congratulations to Dave on your winning design. |

This month marks ten years since I created the artwork for the collectSPACE insignia. The design has been used since 2013 as the logo on collectspace.com and its companion Facebook and Twitter pages. If you weren’t around for the initial discussions, where member Tykeanaut suggested the idea for a cS patch, you can, of course, browse through this thread. You might also enjoy reading my Creating Space article in which I take a look back at how the patch came to be, and share the creative process that led to its design. I also highlight some extreme adventures the logo has been on in its first ten years of existence. Can you believe it has been ten years!? I am still very proud of the design and grateful for the support of the cS community. I am especially thankful that Robert chose the design to represent the collectSPACE identity for all these years. |

Thank you Dave for the reminder. Hard to believe it has been 10 years! As Dave's "Creating Space" article attests, the collectSPACE insignia has gone well beyond this site's upper left corner to reach Earth orbit and the lowest point on the planet, among other adventures. Next stop: the moon? |
