Anyone out there with a "complete" Canadian Space Agency (CSA) patch collection? |

Not patches, but a while back when I wrote to the CSA I received a complete selection of their personal patches in sticker form, up to at least STS-74, possibly STS-100. |

Am I right in presuming that Canadian patches (and memorabilia) make for challenging collection and completion? |

I have seen the CSA name tab patch and the CSA logo patches for sale. But the individual astronaut patches, no. |

Through a friend who used to work for CSA and through meeting CSA representatives at shuttle launches, I've been able to pick up the recent patches for MacLean (STS-115), Williams (STS-118), and Payette (STS-127), in addition to Thirsk's patch for his long-duration stay during Expeditions 20 and 21. But they are difficult to come by; I would have expected a wider distribution given Canada's demonstrated enthusiasm for their astronauts. |

I have a complete collection of CSA patches and am a former employee of CSA. Unfortunately the CSA Communications department has missed the boat on publicity for our astronauts. I have had to rely on my personal/professional relationship with our astronauts individually and on former co-workers. For a short period in the mid-1990's, the CSA allowed the Canadian ISU graduates group the rights to sell the CSA personal patches as a fundraiser, but that had very little publicity and everything was brought "in-house." We also had five education/resource centers across the country that had tons of education materials, posters, stickers, videos and limited number of patches, but they were also closed down after five years of operations. |

Is anyone familiar with this Canadian Space Agency patch variation which Bjarni Tryggvason wore on his launch suit right shoulder? He was photographed here leaving the O&C Building prior to his STS-85 mission. On the bottom it appears to have CSA and ASC (left and right). Those are the English and French initials for the agency? |

On your original question about the patch on the suit, my email to CSA resulted in them identifying that as the current agency logo in use. Previous ones of the red maple leaf, of the globe/shuttle in space, were from the 80's and were not official they said. |
