Chris, the first site you link to is an archive for past "images of the day". It's not updated with the revised insignia because it is, by definition, an archive of past features. Nor is it NASA's shuttle site. This is NASA's shuttle site and this is that site's page for the crew, both with the correct version of the patch. |

At the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, they have Anderson-tabbed patches: |

Who is the STS-117 patch designer? |

Astronaut Pat Forrester designed the patches for both of his flights, STS-105 an 117. |

During today's coverage of rendezvous and docking, I saw a emblem on the first row of control consoles (closest to the camera). It's a rounded triangle in shape, but I could not make out the rest. Anyone know what it is? |

I realize its not a "rounded triangle" but could it be what you saw was the STS-117 increment/payload emblem? |

That's what I thought at first, but that's not it. |

It's interesting to note the payload patch linked has the same artwork of the Earth and Sunrise as STS-100. Same artist? |

It appears they didn't have the time to create revised beta patches for STS-117... |

I believe the ASP also had the old version of the "117" patch (on top of his cap) on launch day. |

Indeed, which is also a bit odd as the other members of the close-out crew had the revised patch on their suits: |

At the close of Flight Day 10, the STS-117 crew took part in the tradition of adding their mission insignia to both Unity's wall and inside Quest.Commander Rick "CJ" Sturckow had the honor of applying the decal inside the node: Mission specialist Jim "JR" Reilly added the emblem inside the airlock, and then the crew took turns signing their names around it: |

I have an original STS-116 from 2003 that I purchased on eBay and was wondering if anyone knows how rare this patch is and how many were actually made? |

That patch you have was made by Randy Hunt, so it is not an original AB Emblem, and has little to non value. I do not believe AB made patches as shown, the artwork was only released a day after the Columbia disaster, so it was probably not approved by NASA at that time... |

Thank you for the info. Even though it isn't official it is nice to have a copy of what it would have been if Columbia had flown successfully. |

I have the STS-116 patch Jacques says is made by Randy Hunt but I've looked at the receipt I got from Stewart Aviation with the patches for the time, and I got sent the mission patches for the original STS-114, 115 and 116 missions on the same receipt some weeks before the STS-107 lift-off.As I am on Stewart's lists as a UK collector I get one of the first mission patches they get in to the UK from AB Emblem, and at the time they only had patches in from AB Emblem and had not used Randy Hunt. How then could I have gotten one by Randy? Plus, I bought a lot of patches off Randy at the time, a number of them not on his web page. At the time he offered me three sets he had made up of the STS-114, 115 and the 116 mission patches with three patches in a set, but not one of the patches is this STS-116 patch as pictured in the above post. I must say that the top of the STS-116 patch is not up to AB Emblem standards and with the patches on STS-114 and 116 being remade, we still have a patch or two that are rare. |

There are two versions that were sold by Randy Hunt. One he called "STS-116 cancelled large" which is larger than the above shown but has better quality in stitching. |
