I've been struggling with ideas on how to display my Apollo Lion Brothers patches and came up with something pretty neat. Borrowing a page from the great Florian, whose flown artifact displays at spaceflori.com are the best in the world, I built some high-res files that can be printed out on standard letter-size photo paper. There's an area on each display page for affixing the patch. I used a couple pieces of archival double-stick tape on each, then placed them all into a nice heavy binder. I was so happy with the result that I wanted to offer the display page artwork to any other patch collectors who were interested. I'll send all of them out to you for free (if you'll pay for the CDR and postage, that is :-) Go here to see at how the finished pages look with the actual embroidered patches attached, and e-mail me at hogya@optonline.net if you'd like to receive a set. PS: I'm currently working on an AB Emblems set of display pages as well. If there's enough interest I'll post when they're completed. |

I just finished all of the display pages. I designed the AB Emblem pages to complement the Lion Brothers pages. If you want to do what I did, get an album with 8-1/2x11 archival plastic pages and insert each of the display sheets so that the two maker's emblems face each other. It's cool to see 'em side by side for comparison. The position of each alternating patch offsets the other so that in a full binder everything lies flat. (Not exactly rocket science, but I did think it through.) |

Bernie, thanks so very much for sharing these with with us. I received the CD today and just took a quick look. The pages are truly awesome! The offset was a great thought for an album also. One can tell that a lot of thought and effort went into them. |

Very nice work. I did my shuttle patches using some non alcohol type two sided mounting squares, plastic document protectors, and cardstock. My displays turned out really nice as well...I've got two or three patches mounted to the front and back of each piece of card stock followed by the crew photos for those missions. I've yet to get any of the Apollo crew photos to go with my patches. |

Rich, my collection is all-Apollo related with some Mercury/Gemini. Maybe another collector with some Photoshop knowledge can springboard off of the work I did for the other programs. |

I'm still around, just really busy with work. I still lurk here sometimes. The patches were offered 3 years ago, so I needed to dig up the files. Luckily, I did find them, so I certainly can still send the files out to anyone who wants them. |

Hey, thanks for the reminder that a lot has changed in the past three years! Most notably, storage capacities on website servers :-) Not to mention high-speed downloads. I've uploaded all of the high-res AB Emblem and Lion Bros. display pages on my space memorabilia website; you can find them by clicking on "APOLLO" in the menu bar. Then, just follow the links. While there, feel free to poke around at some of the rest of my collection. Guess it might be time to update some of that material, too! |

Bernie, your display pages are superb. As one who has never ventured beyond a simple word processing package, could you or any member advise me as to the kind of software which is used for producing composite high resolution images of this nature. Thank you. |

Bernie, given your links to the art/design industry have you ever considered producing these pages on a commercial basis.I for one would be very interested in buying a set for each, knowing they were printed professionally on an archival page. Rather than hawking around trying to get them printed up when I really don't know what I am looking for. Great job Bernie! |

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread... I've recently completed a collection of Apollo-era Lion Brothers patches (minus the rare Apollo 11 variations and other very rare variations like error patches etc.) and my thoughts have turned to how I should store or display them. I've been considering making my own display pages, inspired by Eugene Dorr's website, with the original mission artwork and information on the artists / designers etc. Before I do that I would be really interested to find out what Bernie's display pages look like. I emailed him (since the above links have long since changed) and he told me he no longer has them at hand. He suggested I raise the request here. I'd be very grateful to anyone who might be able to email me the pages or post a new link here. I'm interested in finding both the LB and AB pages. PS. I'm Photoshop savvy and would be happy to run with this to cover Skylab (and ASTP) as per Bernie's suggestion earlier in the thread. |

I found my CD that Bernie sent me. He provided JPGs and hi-res TIFFs. Contact me by email anyone who wants sample JPGs. I'll send a AB and a Lion Brothers sample page. We'll have to work out a deal where I mail out a CD or post it somewhere if you want the whole set, cuz it's a just a bout a full CD worth. |
