I finally received the Star Ace Toys 1/20 scale Apollo 11 Command Module. In general, it looks great and a nice addition to my Apollo shrine!

A few minor comments: the stand is not clear and seems to be a 3D printed part. Also the interior is not exact as the lower equipment bay is filled up to support the crew couches.

Robert mentioned this is the fourth or fifth recast using the mold originally developed by Code 3 Collectibles. It has a new base and a slightly different paint scheme. It also comes without the hatch.

  • Product size : approx. 20cm in diameter
  • Product weight : approx. 2.5kg
  • Package size : W260x D230 x H260mm
It looks like the DeLuxe version is still available for order from the Star Ace Toys website.

Very nice product. Would have been nice if they put all three crewmember names on the display stand. Maybe the production version will include them.

I also sent a note asking if the "normal" version without the moon base and stand is available. All they show on the website is the Deluxe Version.

For this scale the top of the capsule as well as the interior (for what can be seen) is in a too low detail, in my opinion. It looks like a clump. Minor scaled models showed here more detail.

Pretty, but it does indeed look a bit “clumpy”. I’d like to know if the area below the couches is modelled at all, or if it’s like the Code 3 version. Can’t tell from the website pictures.

The area below the couches is unfortunately not modelled and the rest of the interior is not very detailled. The control panel and couches are quite well done. I am considering to mod it if I can figure out how to disassemble it. This will also provide an opportunity to create the missing hatch.

They had the normal version for pre-order but it is not available anymore.

OK thanks. Perhaps I’ll just have to take up 3D printing.

Let me know if you find a good 3D CAD model. I tried to 3D print a cleaned up version of the Smithsonian 3D scan but couldn't manage to close the meshes.

This is the response I received to my customer service question:
We are sorry the normal version of Apollo 11 Command Module is cancelled and did not release. There is 1 version only.

All times are CT (US)
