From Chris Gilman's Orbital Surplus line of replicas:
We offer "Moonshot" shot glasses...

For the first manned mission to the moon, the Apollo spacesuits were an incredibly complex piece of kit, more like a human shaped spacecraft. During servicing and maintenance, the interior of the suit needed to be kept clean and dust free.

So, for the oxygen fittings on the suits, dust plugs were created. Since these would also be needed for sealing the suit during pressure tests, these plugs were machined in aircraft aluminum, and anodized the now familiar red and blue.

We looked at these and though, how cool would it be to have one of these, to drink a toast to the Apollo astronauts, and all those responsible for this incredible feat of engineering.

So, here you go, our "celebration artifact," a faithful reproduction of an Apollo A7L spacesuit dust plug, as a shot glass.

Machined in the same alloy of aluminum, polished and anodized in your choice of red and blue. Engraved with the correct part number "ASSY A7L-101006-05."

This is cool. But it seems smart to confirm whether or not anodized aluminum is food safe.

A quick Google search suggests it is, at least insofar as the (potentially hazardous) aluminum is contained by the anodized layer. But how about the anodized layer itself?

A good question that would be best answered by Chris Gilman.

Of course, a lot of people collect shot glasses from which they never drink but just have to display.

Good point, and since I only have maybe two alcoholic drinks a year it doesn't really apply so much to me anyway - but there is the occasional space-themed party in which I might take a shot of Tang! So it seems wise to ask now before I accidentally aluminize my esophagus. (Or something.)
