Online I found a few "SSA" pewter astronaut statues (about 4" tall) from ILC Dover.Apparently there are different versions. Plain pewter, some painted with decals and color accents, and one with what appears to be a DCM (display control module) enamel pin attached to the chest. Does anybody have more information on these? |

I don't have much to add, other than they date back to the first use of the EMU on a spacewalk (STS-6) and that they were also presented by Hamilton Standard, ILC's partner in the build-up of the suit.I found this example, presented by Hamilton Standard, at the estate sale of STS-6 astronaut Don Peterson: |

Here are the other variations I found. According to a description on WorthPoint, one of them came with a note dating it to August 1979, four years before STS-6.

I received mine in the 1990's at Johnson Space Center when I worked in the EVA Project Office. I seem to recall they were produced in house by the Crew Systems Division. You can see one painted — even the flag and NASA logos are painted and not decals. The rear of the PLSS and the base are cast separately from the figure.
