I have this 1/48 Apollo lunar module model that plays the "One small step..." recording when you press a button on the bottom. Can someone tell me who produced these and what else is known about them? Thanks!

Edit: I just found that someone here identified this for me in the past as an "Action Products" model. Looks quite different (nicer) than an "Action Products" model for sale on eBay.

Yes, at one time Action Products reproduced this lunar module as part of a larger set that also include the command and service module. It was released as part of Action Products' "Space Voyagers" line of toys under the title, "Ultimate Apollo Moon Mission."

The model was originally produced by IPI but the company folded and Action Products acquired the rights to the mold. The lunar module was particularly fragile, with many arriving in box with broken off legs.

Here is the "full stack" Apollo spacecraft (CSM and LM) from my collection. Mine is made by IPI of Colorado, one of the companies Robert mentioned. The box has "Explorations in Time" branding.

Here is also an image of the toy inside its see-through box (from an earlier thread).

I like these. I still have three. i used one on top of a 1/48th Saturn V I built for the USS Hornet Museum. Wish I had better pics of that.

Thanks! Yeah not a bad model. Don't know what happened to the rest of mine but I can admire this LM on my shelf.

Nice model. I bought one from the KSC shop in September 2000 when I visited.

All times are CT (US)
