I hope Blitzway bring out this great 1:4 scale EMU astronaut, oh how nice... as seen New York Comic-Con by Action Figure Direct:

If they do, I hope it will be a 1/6 model to fit with other models. |

I'm not sure I even want to know how much this will be, as the high-end 1:6 stuff is often very pricey. It's a moot point for me as I'm sure I don't have the money (and for sure not the room) to devote to one of these. The good thing is that people could stage their own 'space' photos (or film) with this and if done correctly, it'd look like the real thing with the visor pulled down like that. |

I agree 1:4 is a bad idea (unless they come up with a 1:6 model as well). But interesting to note that there are shuttle-era models coming out as we approach the Apollo 11 50th anniversary. |

I see this more as being current spaceflight, as the EMU is still in use at the space station. |

I hope this figure by Blitzway is affordable. Also curious to see if it is just the figure or comes with the display base shown here. As if I have the space for anything this size... |

Define affordable. When I see that 1:6, 12-inch tall action figures can go as high as $450, affordable is not the first word that comes to mind regarding the Astronaut model... |

Wow, stunning piece. Expensive, perhaps but the amount of work and attention to detail that seems to have gone into this, it may just be worth it. Now, do I have room? |

Note that Entertainment Earth, one of the larger U.S. websites offering the statue for pre-order, states they expect delivery in June 2019. (Other sites list first quarter 2019.) |

I have the Blitzway Ghostbusters set and their quality is excellent. However, that set took 1 1/2 years to release.Sideshow is selling it at the company's original MSRP with a payment plan if that helps. |

The write-up on the Sideshow website says this is the first of four in a series. If they're planning on coming out with more astronaut figures such as this, I'd much rather wait to see if they come out with a similar 1:4 scale Apollo or Gemini figure. As much as I love this diorama, I'd much rather have Ed White or Neil Armstrong taking up half of my living room. |

I don't see that information about the series. I only see it's a 1/4 scale. |

Blitzway's website does note that this EMU statue is the first in a new project series titled "The Real," but there is no indication that the subsequent projects will be space related. |

Great representation modeled at the current EVA space suit used aboard ISS. Imagine that as an MMU or the first version ILC EMU — Extravehicular Mobility Unit. |

For a delivery date of first semester of 2019, you'd think they would have made an Armstrong EVA suit to coincide with Apollo 11 50th anniversary. Apparently I'm missing something. |

I have reached out to Blitzway to see about working with them on an article about the making of this statue and their motivations to do so. I hope they will cooperate, as it is clear they put a lot of work into getting the details correct. If they do agree to an interview, I will certainly ask about follow-on models and why the EMU was their first project in this series. Personally, as a space shuttle-era enthusiast, I am happy to see them focus on an underrepresented topic (the EMU) rather than the Apollo A7L, which has been modeled in multiple forms and scales over the past couple of decades. |

Yes, their president has agreed to an interview. There may be an opportunity for me to see the model firsthand in July, so I am waiting to see if that comes together. |

By way of an update, I met Blitzway's CEO at San Diego Comic Con and he now has my interview questions, for which he promised he and his staff would answer soon. What I believe was still a pre-production model was on display and I have photos to share with the article to accompany Blitzway's replies. |

4th quarter 2019 or 2018, Robert? Blitzway and Sideshow Collectible's websites are still showing a window between 4th quarter 2018 or 1st quarter 2019.Otherwise, a whole additional year... yeesh! I've had one on pre-order since July. |

Fourth quarter 2019. They are taking their time getting the production process correct to ensure the final model is the same high quality as the pre-production samples they have displayed.Having seen one of those displays in-person, I would say it will be worth the wait... |

We're just shy of a year since the last update and are mid-way through the fourth quarter, 2019.Robert, you previously appeared to have a lead/insight into these models' production. Any chance you have an update? Thanks. |

For what it is worth there is a preorder on eBay (202830551256). Typically that indicates a release soon but this has been so long coming I have to wonder. |

I have become very wary of pre-orders. The proposed delivery date is often vague (3rd Qtr 2019 as an example), or a relatively distant date. The anticipated delivery date is often beyond the deadline for getting a refund from your credit card or PayPal. |

So far, I have ordered the model off eBay from some guy in China who plans to make knock offs in some factory over there. The delivery date was in December, but he emailed me to say that it would take four or five months to produce. I vetoed that deal. I checked out another shop that said the model company never gives them any update. I put a small down payment via Paypal to get a model. This model was advertised in 2016. It's three years later. What happened? |
