Very cool and I really like the excitement shown by those assembling it.

The website says it is sold out?

Blitzway appears to no longer be taking direct orders, but its distributors are, e.g. Sideshow and Entertainment Earth.

Great news to hear and see this is finally getting released. Thanks for the updates everyone.

I've been down to a single payment remaining for this piece at Sideshow for quite a while now. Hopefully I will have this in hand within the next two months.

Shipping looks like it will be fun. I didn't realize at first it came in both of those boxes. This is quite a bit larger than I imagined. Definitely an attention getter. Can't wait!

I per-ordered from Sideshow and have received a note that it will arrive in their warehouse on Dec 12th. They will charge my card at that time and the shipping is a whopping $350!

I will update later in the week on progress.

Ah yes... shipping. I just got an email stating that the dimensions of the boxes and their weight were larger than anticipated (and charged.) It must now be palletized and delivered via freight carrier. Shipping across country; no upcharge, $407.75.

Yeah, just put the extra $227.75 on the card. I am pretty sure I can fit them through the doorway, lol.

Thank you Mr. Pearlman for the video. I now know what to expect on delivery, and don't have to rush to put it together for everyone's enjoyment.

I like the turntable idea; not putting it together on one. I'm gonna have to build one with a very slow motor drive. I'll post a video when it's done. Maybe 2025...

Safe trips all.

I say it was quick shipping, it did arrive a day earlier than the original date. The boxes had to be signed for.

I unboxed and put the model in place in about 25 minutes by myself.

It is an impressive display. I have yet to add the details but wanted to give my first impression. I will post more commentary later.

I am expecting mine in a week or so due to the holidays.

Is there a mission patch on the shoulder and, if so, which mission?

Has anyone yet heard what else is coming out in the series? A few weeks ago I thought I saw a moonwalker version but now can't find it.

Displayed above those hard hats, this really looks a big model. Figure must be about 50 centimeters?

As posted above, it comes with a number of flags for the shoulder and patches for the chest. I used the USA flag and the STS-122 patch (Jackie and I saw that launch for our honeymoon).

Overall the model is large and heavy with the base being very heavy as it should be for the asymmetric balancing needed. in the video, the base was difficult to remove from the Styrofoam, that was the same for me. This was attributed to it being in tight and the base is heavy to remove. I just carefully turned it over on the mount peg, on a carpeted floor, and removed the Styrofoam that way. Then placed the base in position on a round wood platform. The packaging was really well done and the model packing robust enough such that shipping issues would be minimal (except for the cost as mentioned in an earlier post).

The model is very stable once put together and not really unstable during the installation of parts. The installation was easy and all parts went together well (I must admit the video helped such that I understood how it all went together).

It is a great looking model especially at a $1190 price point. The helmet lights are very bright and look good lit up. I am sure the purists amongst us can find the inaccuracies but I am very pleased with the overall display and the impact it commands in a room that is already filled with "space."

If you have the resources, as well as the display space and appreciate a large model, don't miss this one. (Storing the model boxed for later display will require a good deal of space as well.)

Fred, what is the weight and size of the packages? The model is coming to my office on Tuesday. I am going to have to get these into my SUV for the ride home.

Well that will be sporty Larry. They are each about 4' long X 3' wide x about 18" deep. It is a box in a box, so inside is the actual box with color graphics. (Jackie likes the graphics and suggested cutting them out for framing.)

I decided to toss the outside cardboard boxes in our company recycle bins and laying the boxes inside my short bed pickup truck they just fit inside the bed. Depending on your SUV placing them on their side I think both would fit but you will need help as they weigh about 60 pounds each.

Then I can put the FedEx guy to work. And thanks for the update on the weight and size. That is a real help.

I received my Blitzway EMU the day after Christmas. Fred (GACSpaceguy) was right. The two boxes are 3'x4'x1.5' and one box weighed 97 lbs and one weighed 62 lbs. I had to put them in two SUVs to get them home from the office.

I watched the video included here which helped me look at the issues the team had in assembling the model. Weight is a real issue. The base weighs close to 40 lbs and the two arm sections and the astronaut weigh about 20 lbs each. The total model weighs close to 100 lbs. The max height and width are 31".

The detail is very good. The SSRMS and the LEE are very detailed. The astronaut is covered in a Beta like cloth and includes flags of various ISS partipating countries and Shuttle crew patches that can be interchanged on the shoulder and chest pack.

I am placing it on a low table and a heavyweight "Lazy Susan" turntable so it can be rotated for viewing.

Larry, to me the base was the most difficult part to remove from the foam. I saw they struggled on the video so I was going to just break the foam away from the base to lift it out as it was tightly wedged in.

I thought better of it (and the clean up of all those typical foam pieces) and just took the foam, with the base still inside, out of the box and turned it upside down on a pillow then pulled the foam up and away from the base ie a gravity field has its usefulness.

Fred, that is what I did. I tipped over the box and let it fall to a couch pillow while my daughter guided it out of the foam packing. I also saw that they had trouble guiding the parts together. That was especially true of the arm to the base. I just moved the arm around and it attached with ease.

I just put together the table after cutting the legs down, so the table stands at 14 inches. I put the turntable on and just mounted the model. It stands just short of four feet tall now and spins for viewing.

I remember when this model first came out and drooling over it, way out of my budget at the time. Fast forward to last week, I find one on the local Next-Door marketplace for $350 and couldn't pass it up. Complete with both boxes and foam inserts. I was shocked at how heavy it is! Thrilled to have it.

The instructions are small and don't give any information on the 2-piece arm sleeves.

I understand these were a limited production run, any idea of how many were made?
