Adam Savage's Mercury Spacesuit Replica
A double dose of space awesomeness! Adam shares with us two prized possessions: a perfect replica of the coveted NASA-issued blue flight jacket worn by Apollo astronauts, and a recreated silver full-body pressure suit used in NASA's Mercury missions. Yep, it's the iconic U.S. Navy Mark IV suit designed by B.F. Goodrich Company and worn by astronauts like John Glenn.
Photo gallery of the suit for an up-close look at the details here.

Absolutely stunning. Great reproduction suit from an era not seen as much.

Adam's latest machining project is a return to his Mercury spacesuit replica, his very first spacesuit replica project that keeps on getting improvements.
Adam just upgraded the gloves on this suit with an amazing custom sewn pair, and turns to machining the distinct wrist coupler rings that connect them to the main suit. It's a painstaking process of turning a large round aluminum bar into hardware that looks right out of NASA's spacesuit shop.
Adam is back to finish his replica wrist connectors for his new Mercury spacesuit costume! After the arduous process of machining the glove rings in the first part,
Adam gets to the fun of weathering the aluminum to look like real vintage NASA hardware. And for that, he brings out a new piece of equipment that he hasn't used for a build before — a rock tumbler for real wear and tear!

One of Adam's very first spacesuit replica projects was a NASA Mercury program Navy Mark IV pressure suit, but the materials he chose to recreate its iconic silver fabric have since completely deteriorated! That's why Adam is so thrilled to unveil his newest Mercury suit replica, constructed by costumer Christine Knobel (who worked on Adam's xEMU concept suit).
Adam couldn't be happier with this latest iteration, and commences work on weathering the suit to make it look as if it's been part of the space program since the 60s.
