This one just landed in my collection: the giant Antonov An-225 Mriya "Dream" in 1:200 scale!I have been waiting so long for an An-225 with the Buran shuttle. I can't tell you much about the model, got it from Hong Kong. It was more of an impulsive purchase. I believe it's made by PCM. The one I have is a "sample" so I don't have a retail box. It looks pretty good - one of the best profile shapes I have seen for the An-225. Like most PCM models, it's made of Mahogany Wood or Resin. Since mine is a sample, I don't have a display stand (although there are two holes at the bottom of the model to allow it to be displayed with a stand).

Shame we don't see more of this bird. Only one An-225 exist in the world (the second is half built abandoned in a hangar somewhere). But this one bird has gone through several cosmetic changes:
But I say it still looked the best back in 1989 with the old Soviet Colors and Buran Shuttle. |

Your photos of the An-225 next to the Boeing SCA were really cool. Aviation200 should have produced both models! It would have been tempting to buy one of their planned B747/shuttle combination. In any case the the An-225 is planned by Herpa at 1:200 (and since they produced Buran, who knows...). |

Based on what I've read, additional funding was secured to finish the second An-225 a couple years ago. But I don't know if it is flying yet. |

I got a display stand for my model, looks better than ever now. This is the stock stand that came with the model:

At a larger scale than the existing one by Herpa (1:500)? |

Yea I wanted one in 1:200 not 1:500. Hopefully Herpa comes out with the one with the shuttle in 1:200 later this year. For now, this would do. |

Received an email from Herpa regarding a 1:200 Buran that would go with their planned An-225 model. They are considering it but they first want to produce the An-225 in the best quality/detail as possible then see how sales go. If the market reacts well to the An-225, a Buran model would certainly be considered. |
