Herpa Wings 1:500 Antonov AN-225 Mriya & Buran Orbiter. Developed at the time for transporting the "Buran", the "Mriya" is now presented in its original Soviet color scheme in a set with the orbiter vehicle. Their first public appearance in the west took place in 1989 at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget. |

Only wished this was in 1:200 scale, then it would interest me. |

As always with Herpa, this is neat, even at 1/500. The An-225 is definitely full metal - it's so heavy. Buran must be plastic. In an ideal world, I would have liked a support stand. And it's a pity Herpa do not produce more space and space-related models. Now we need a Buran-Energyia stack. Dragon (or Herpa) if you're reading this... |

I don't have any official information but only what was replied to me when I inquired about a 1:200 version of the An-225 (with eventually Buran with it) they released late last year (an Ukrainian version). Well, the model is sold out and discontinued. So one can hope that Herpa might consider producing a Russian version of the An-225 since sales apparently met expectations (hopefully this will be also applied to their Tu-95S bomber, also in Ukrainian livery; and other versions of the B-52). |
