Built for a customer in Brazil, this represents the Apollo 15 command module Endeavour when things got interesting: the deep space EVA to retrieve the data in the SIM bay. My reaction would have been, you want me to do what? I've always been inspired by the picture of Al Worden climbing out of the command module, and with the 40th anniversary of the first lunar landing approaching, I had to post these pictures.

Looking great Steve!Do you have use (bare metal foil) around the CM capsule? I,m started also with this capsule in other theme... But will you make now Al Worden climbing out of the command module extra? The astronauts in that scale are for sale. |

There are also kits for the SIM bay to fit the 1/32 Monogram model. |

Good job. It would be a nice to see an astronaut climbing out of the CM. Maybe doing Apollo 9 with the LEM attached and Rusty Schweickart doing an EVA. |

NASA GRIN image number AS9-20-3064, Gumdrop meets Spider, is the image I had in mind.I have Real Space Model's SIM bay; the customer wanted it closed, believe me I tried to get it opened, he was afraid of the fit, and preferred the closed panel. The next one will be open, with astronauts, doing that deep space EVA. Thanks for all your input, and kind words. I have been a modeler, and artist all my life, but a spacecraft modeler only a short period of time. I'm still learning every second, and just getting warmed up, I hope. |

Is the bare metal foil tricky to use?I have the 1/32 model I want to put it on also and have no experience with the metal foil. It does appear that patience is definately required, but I think I can hack it.. |

Bare metal foil is a joy, but some practice is required. I'm an artist, I have been using foils for over 40 years, copper, brass, etc. The only drawback with BMF, it is an extremely fragile finish, and, in between covering, and finishing the CM, it is really hard to work around. Tamiya clear lacquer seals things, because it is a one piece application, until all of the tape patterns are scribed, then trouble begins. Once she is sealed, it's touchable, without fingerprints, or removing any foil. |

Wasn't the probe and drouge already stowed in the LM when Worden made his EVA?I don't mean to nit pick. You did a beautiful job. I would love to have this model myself. |

OK, will definately get the varnish.Another question: Do you have to cut the foil into the little strip patterns individually, or are you scoring it in some way to produce that effect? Oh, and if you are cutting it, how long a process is this? Thanks for answering! |

It's applied with one large piece that you scribe, and then, it becomes individual strips. That is when the fun begins, they will come off if handled roughly, be careful, have fun, and do not clean it (BMF) with alchohol!! Use fantastic kitchen spray. |

I am glad to know that you use one piece!Ok, thanks for your guidance. I may have to consult you as I actually get into it, but I think I have a good idea based upon your pictures and and what you have told me so far. It is truly a beautiful piece of work you did! I bet you hate to part with it. |

Steve, I am almost ready to apply foil - what tool, etc. did you use to scribe the foil, and, did you apply an adhesive before you laid the foil on the plastic? Thanks for answering! |

A NEW number 11 x-acto, for scribing, and no extra adhesive is necessary. |
