Some of you who were in San Antonio might remember the guy at the very back of the very last ballroom who had the large Redstone model and the smaller ones at his table. This was Jeff Teel, whose company, Launch Pad Spacecraft makes both scratch and special order models from existing kits. I was impressed with the quality of what I saw there that I ended up ordering a 1/12th scale MR-7. The capsule is a modified version of the existing Atomic City 1/12th Mercury, but Jeff adds in a ton of extras such as interior lighting, a recording, and hoses, wires, etc... especially behind the instrument panel for a huge touch of realism. The version I bought also includes a full silk parachute and beeping beacon in the nose. The Redstone booster is scratch made and fits the Atomic City model very well. The entire effect is a great display! I'm extremely impressed with the workmanship and the turnaround. Once I placed the order it took about a month to have it delivered. I had my Mercury done as Shepard's Freedom 7 Here's a photo of the entire model, next to my 1/48th Nick Proach Saturn V: And here is a close shot of the interior:
