Greetings all, Geraths Design is very proud to announce the release of our newest collectable sculpture. "One Giant Leap" is the result of considerable public preasure for me to create a life size Lunar footprint. I have been getting a steady amount of emails from collectors, asking if I would ever consider creating a larger, more detailed Lunar footprint wall plaque... Well, after many long hours of research and sculpting, this new collectable is finally available. "One Giant Leap" is offered in 8 different configurations. Apollo Program - Kennedy Apollo 11 - Armstrong Apollo 12 - Conrad Apollo 14 - Shepard Apollo 15 - Scott Apollo 16 - Young Apollo 17 - Cernan Each plaque comes with a mission logo and an inscription of the first words spoken on the surface of the Moon by the mission Commander. Whether you are looking for the noble simplicity of Armstrong's words, the clever whit of Conrad or the meaningful thoughts of Cernan... each landed mission is represented. The Kennedy plaque features the logo for the Apollo program and a quote from his historic speech at Rice Stadium in 1962... "We set sail on this new sea because there is new knowledge to be gained, and new rights to be won, and they must be won and used for the progress of all people." For autograph collectors, this plaque is also offered in a signature configuration. Pick one of the 7 Apollo logos and the rest of the plaque is left blank, just the thing to send to your favorite astronaut for his signature or to pass around at the next autograph show! Please follow this link to take a look. Just scroll down about halfway down the page. http://gerathsdesign.com/Models.htm I can now accept credit card payment through PayPal. Wholesale inquires welcome. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask. Since the boot print is supposed to represent all twelve of the Apollo astronauts that walked on the surface, it is not a replica of any particular footprint. However, it was very important to me to make it as realistic as I could. I designed the print to be crisp and clear without any major distortions, sort of a "type specimen" Lunar footprint; but I did include subtle detail to make it realistic. Note: some of the tread marks in the print have tiny sections of edge that have fallen, cracks in the compressed Lunar powder, etc... All of those features were taken directly from photos of real footprints on the Moon. Very nice idea of an "apollofootprint" ! Did not see the quotes used for each of the astronuats. Though it is as misquoted as often as Elvis Presley's middle name, was the exact quote Neil used " That's one small step for A man, ....?" Otherwise an idea which was long overdue...[This message has been edited by Wehaveliftoff (edited December 31, 2004).] IP: Logged |

The Armstrong quote on the Apollo 11 plaque is correct. I recall it being reported on US tv only a day or two after the Apollo 11 landing that Armstrong hand intended saying "one small step for A man" but in the excitement..... he got it wrong.Regards, Rick. IP: Logged |

You got it right, Rick. The footprint is correct. What Armstrong wanted to say and what came out were different. I read that after the mission Armstrong listened to the recording a few times and in disbelief he stated something like "I can't believe I said it wrong!" Danno

Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't the definition of a "quote" what someone actually said, not what was intended to be said? IP: Logged |

Whenever I hear the audio I always hear it this way -"That's one small step for man..." (Thinks - OH NO!!!! Do I start again or carry on? Er, carry on.) "One giant leap for mankind". There's definitely a weighty pause in that transmission. Yes, you are correct. That is why the quote on my plaques do not have the "A". Thanks, Dana ------------------ Visit my Studios Website at http://www.GerathsDesign.com IP: Logged |
