When Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore transferred from being Starliner crew members to Dragon's Crew-9, both needed SpaceX pressure suits to wear on the trip back to Earth. Williams fit into a spare suit that was already aboard the space station and SpaceX sent up a suit for Wilmore to wear on a cargo delivery.

Typically, SpaceX's suits are configured such that on their left shoulder, under the country flag is a name tag for the crew member. I asked Williams and Wilmore how their suits were configured while they were still in space:

Williams: We were not down on the ground getting specifically measured for suits and stuff like that, so we have some generally generic suits that we are going to be fitted into and tried out while we were up here.

So no name [tag], but that is okay, we're just Butch and Suni and everybody knows who we are by now.

Wilmore: We do have Sharpies up here, so my suit might have a name on it.

Well, as it turns out, Wilmore's suit appears to have been blank when it came to a name, but looking at a photo released today, it does appear that Williams' suit has something printed on the name tag. Unfortunately, she is facing straight onto the camera, so only the beginning of the first letter can be seen.

Does anyone know of other imagery or better yet, what the name tag reads?

Okay, that makes sense, given there was a brief time where NASA was considering returning Frank Rubio home on Dragon as a result of an ammonia leak on Soyuz.

Instead, it was decided Rubio would wait for a replacement Soyuz.

All times are CT (US)
