collectSPACE Elon Musk's pet dog inspires young girl's design for Polaris Dawn zero-g indicatorA privately-funded crew now on a mission to set several records in Earth orbit may not include the first child in space, but they have her hopes, wishes and, most tangibly, original furry spacesuit-clad creation on board. "Asteroid," a plush Shiba, is the "zero-g indicator" on the Polaris Dawn mission. |

The Polaris Dawn crew is flying Liv Perroto's original drawing on which "Asteroid" was based and plans to return it to her after the mission. In addition to the plush doll, "Asteroid" appears on the front of a new SpaceX Polaris Dawn t-shirt. |

I would buy a shirt with the little girls drawing because it is better than the commercial version. |

The SpaceX doll has a custom hang tag with the Polaris Dawn logo on its front and credit to Liv as its designer inside. The tag identifies Asteroid's birthday as July 28, 2010. Asteroid the Shiba, with the fluffiest ears is ordinary pup, he's a space pioneer! He ventures the cosmos wagging his tail with delight then returns back to Earth for snuggles at night. |
