I bought this Apollo Saturn Cold Helium Solenoid Valve last year at auction (the same offered here) and would love to know more about it. Does anyone know what it is made of? Or anything else interesting about these S-IVB valves?

Scott (SpaceAholic), any background you may have would be interesting to hear!

Valve was part of the system responsible for (helium) purging the J-2 following engine shutdown and prior to restart. Photo indicates its mounted location on the thrust structure assembly (proximal to the J-2 gimbal bearing).

Thanks very much! I appreciate your reply. The engineering that went into it is incredible. Easy for people to take it all for granted.
