NASA allowed astronauts to wear the lightweight Komfit Forstner (later Jacoby Bender Champion) steel mesh watch band as these could be easily removed if an astronaut got stuck with his wristwatch. A comfortable bracelet making a comeback.
Forstner is re-releasing its most iconic product, the "Komfit" mesh watch band, worn famously by many astronauts during the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo space programs. We've dubbed this band the "JB" in honor of the Jacoby Bender version that also helped popularize the model.

I'm not sure I like the improvements but at least it will differentiate these modern versions from originals. I may save my original and wear one of these instead.

That's the whole idea David.

My vintage steel mesh bracelet sits on a 1964 Accutron Astronaut tuning fork wristwatch, which I have on display.

Got mine today. Very nice. You wouldn't know it wasn't original if you didn't know to look for the subtle differences. Comes in a very nice presentation box as well. Certainly worth the asking price, especially as compared to the going price of the originals.
