The fun part of wearing one of these jackets is seeing the looks of recognition from time to time. I saw a guy near the Boeing plant in Seattle almost walk right off the sidewalk into traffic once he saw the one I was wearing. He came running up and asked where I'd gotten it. It was so tempting to say, "I bought this in a Goodwill in Texas, why?" but couldn't do that. I gave him the info for these replicas and I believe he may have ordered one as well from his reaction.

Can anyone shed any light on what's happening with the 'Still the Right Stuff' jackets? I've seen that Alexander Leathers has changed its name to Simmons Bilt Clothing Company and that they seem not to make these anymore. Has another company taken over? I really hope so.

Stuff like that is often made for a limited time as there's only so many people who would buy something like that, even among space fans (for example, I talked with someone at JSC not long ago about these and he said even among the die-hard space fans he sees all the time, he didn't know one person other than myself who actually had one).

I'd be interested in knowing how many of the blue and yellow ones they actually sold before their run was over with.

Along those lines, I saw Adam on Mythbusters wearing one of the yellow ones with an Apollo 8 patch on one sleeve in a recent episode. I found this photo with a Google search of him wearing it.

The market is limited, but the Houston community may be underrepresented.

Astronauts, NASA pilots and flight surgeons are our neighbors and wearing a flight jacket of any type may be a tad too close for some people's tastes.

There is a local company that uses the same NASA blue for their employees' overalls, such that I always do a double take when I see them at restaurants or in stores.

Thanks for your thoughts. I've had my blue jacket for nearly two years. It's had light wear, English weather, still looks great. I really would like to get the yellow version. I was also looking forward to what else 'Still The Right Stuff' had planned for future releases.

Any word on a resurgence of these 'Still the Right Stuff' replica flight jackets of late?

Would really love to get my hands on one.

At Spacefest this past June, Al Worden said that an effort was getting started to bring the jackets back to the market but that it might take some time.
