I need help finding exactly what this was used for and photos of it in use. A friend says it is part of the communications cable between the snoopy hat and astronaut suit or spacecraft. It feels like a ribbon cable inside the blue sheath and the small connector looks like a Mini-USB. In the 1960s? Wow. Thank you, and a big thank you to cS friend Lou Chinal who sent this to me. |

Looks like a PGA electrical harness from the biosensor/comms system. |

I think it passed through one of these connectors into the suit. (Scott, why are we answering cS posts instead of opening Christmas presents?) |

Scott what is a PGA harness? If the blue round connector passed through ilbasso's connector into the suit, where/what did the other connectors attach too? Regarding opening presents, this made my holiday season when it arrived! |

Thank you Robert. Here's a cleaned up version of this graphic. Now - how to tell if it is flown, training etc? |

Flight articles would have been teflon/beta cloth covered. The good news is you have an Extra Vehicular A7LB version identified by its shorter cable between the connector and bio-harness (the A7LB Command Module Pilot IV variant, which is reflected in the above drawing has a longer umbilical from the electrical connector to the bio-harness; the upper interface to the communications carrier was the same length for both the EV/IV versions). |

Gary it is I who should thank you!As some of you may or may not know Gary is a Vice President of HANS Performance Products. On October 17th 2004, a HANS helmet literally saved my neck. Not in a race car accident, but while skydiving (the same type of helmets are used and yes I have jumped with Mary Ellen Weber STS-70 and 101). I fractured C-6 and C-7 in my neck, it heeled perfectly. When I think what might have been(Christopher Reeves), the rods and screws in my legs were kids stuff. As far as the cable goes I think it came from a prototype/training suit unflown. I have no idea who's suit it was. Steve Smith (stsmithva)- When I see you again at the Air and Space museum I hope to be looking at you at eye level, I'm out of the wheelchair now. |
