Seen on eBay...Red Bearon Beanie Babie FLOWN IN SPACE on SpaceShipOne! This Beanie has been to space and back - X-Prize SS1 Red Bearon is a Limited Edition Beanie Babie born on December 17, 2003. Created to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the Wright Brothers flight, he sports a badge with a picture of the Wright Flyer. Mr. And Mrs. Burt Rutan donated Red Bearon from their private collection of teddy bears as a gift to Rocketboosters.Mr. Bearon, pictured above, wears a sticker that reads "FLOWN IN SPACE 17P." Red Bearon was a passenger on Space Flight 17P, flown by Brian Binnie on Monday, October 4, 2004. "17" stands for the SS1 flight number; "P" stands for rocket-powered. On Oct 4, SpaceShipOne rocketed into history becoming the first private manned spacecraft to exceed an altitude of 328,000 feet twice within the span of a 14 day period, thus claiming the ten million dollar Ansari X-Prize. This high-flying Ty bear comes with a notarized Certificate of Authenticity signed by SpaceShipOne inventor Burt Rutan and Rocketboosters founder Tonya Rutan. In addition the winner will receive a commemorative postcard picture of SpaceShipOne autographed by pilots Mike Melvill, Brian Binnie and Pete Siebold. There will be two more dolls auctioned in January. This is the only Beanie Baby that will be auctioned. The Rocketboosters will reveal the identity of the other toy dolls once their auctions begin. |

It's a shame they didn't bring up the brown version of that Beanie Baby as only one brown was made for every 12, for those that care about Ty's Beanie Babies. I'm sure Ty would have signed it too if notified, or will, upping the price a minimum of $3,000. | |
