So finally I wanted to finish it... that's the preliminary result. I took the clipart of the coins back from another forum here on cS. But the resolution is quite bad. If anyone has the clip art in better quality (perhaps Jerry or Rob) I could change it again.Maybe Cunningham's autopen is a little bit to small... but I don't have any clues about the right size of the autopens. So, there we are: That's all for today... now I'm tired! (And the weird thing: I do not even have the coin! Does anyone has one more left, wanted to sell it?! Anyone?) |

OK, my original post on this thread was such that I thought the coin was being offered as well. If there is anyone else who is willing to part with one of these coins let me know as I am looking for one. I missed the offering the first time around and would like a second chance. Thanks. |

Well in this column a coin never was offered. Buy eBay is one good source to get flown coins. just search "flown" or "flown medal"... also space-coins.com. Prices also depends on rarity of the coin... happy collecting. |

So here's my suggestion of the NASA 25th Anniversary MFA Award. I was oriented towards the Manned Flight Awareness Honoree Award which had a similar design in the the mid-eighties. Its a quite simple design but I think this "ordinary" one approximates more realistic. So just for private use... |

So here just a simple presentation which also might be plain, but for me as well as the other ones I presented. I used the CoA of the Apollo 11 30th anniversary medal for the gold-plated version of the medal. To emphasize the coin I just took a black cardboard with embossed pattern. framed in the same skids I always use... |

Here's a custom made design for the Apollo 11 MFA medal. I tried implement and consult all the special wishes for this design given by my client. The tricky thing was to made Armstrong stepping out of the LEM. To all eagle eyes... Its not original Apollo 11 footage, but this was not determining for the client: So, hope you enjoy this one. |

I was the client that requested the custom artwork of Armstrong stepping out of the Eagle. I wanted something dramatic to display my flown coin from the mission. Rocket Chris is very very talented and portrayed my idea easily. As you can see, his quality is top notch. |

So here is the final one for this year: A painting of the steeds of Apollo as seen on the Apollo 13 patch. The following image shows the framing concept for the Apollo 13 medal by Winco. This time I frame two of these coins with a centered mission patch. I know that I can not paint as well as Lumen Winter who painted the "Steeds of Apollo" in 1969. But for my first painting its quite well! There will be also a painting for the Apollo 11 and Apollo 17 medal presented in the next year... any custom wishes are welcome. |

These are some really excellent medals and display work. Congratulations on developing the display designs, and on building such a nice collection of medals. One little nit. I've been a numismatist (someone who collects coins, medals, bills etc.) for decades. All of the items that you have are medals. They are NOT coins. A coin is used for commerce... it will have some value associated with it, e.g. a dime is worth 10 c. Medals are for memorializing something, e.g. person, place, event etc., and have no monetary value associated with them. (Note that intrinsic worth, for example if the medal is made out of gold, is different than monetary worth). |

... new medals require new designs. Here is the first concept for Winco's shuttle tribute medallion. It's re-edited from the STS-135 mission poster. Design itself is still in progress. So folks... any ideas and inspirations are welcome. Design will be free for download when finished. |

A great design! One thought... given that there are two official coins, a bronze and a silver colored version, maybe have two places for the coin to attach? I also think the reverse side of these coins are very well done. If there is ample room, include additional places if one chooses to have two of each to display both sides. Great job on the artwork! |

Chris, did you complete the shuttle medallion certificates? Have you produced any for more recent Winco medallions e.g. Kennedy Space Center 50 years, Shuttle SCA etc? Thank you. |

So finally here is the new beauty in my office: This time I didn't made any design, just an arrangement of a flown SCA medal and a flag, flown aboard both SCA 905 and 911. |

Great work! Did you ever think of making slightly smaller versions of these? You'd run out of wall space with a quickness with large-format designs for individual coins.I have some reasonable artistic skills myself and have thought of doing something along these lines for a Marshall Space Center director's coin I was given some time back. I'm not a collector along the lines of many of you but I have a few, the Apollo 40th, the two shuttle completion ones, the KSC 50th one and a few project 'challenge' coins I got in the military. It'd be neat to find a way to combine several of these somehow into one design... |

You're right, therefore I've got to dodge stuff into my office. But if you started once with a format you'll keep it to have a kind of similarity. There would be a possibility to make a combination of all designs. Just one rectangular design which is splittet. Every split is related to the coins own design... You frame it all up in one line and would have therefore a great wall of fame. |
