7. Clifton Williams

Clifton Williams

Clifton Williams, perhaps better known as 'CC', lost his life in the 1967 crash of his T-38 jet. He served briefly as the original Apollo 9 lunar module pilot (he was replaced after his passing by Alan Bean), and had he lived, Williams may have become the fourth man to walk on the Moon on Apollo 12.
