Expedition 29 marks the International Space Station's (ISS) 29th long duration mission. Expedition 29 begins with Soyuz TMA-21 undocking in September 2011. Three new crew members arrive shortly thereafter on TMA-22. - NASA astronauts Mike Fossum and Dan Burbank
- Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergei Volkov, Anton Shkaplerov and
Sergei Revin Anatoly Ivanishin
- JAXA astronaut Satoshi Furukawa
Expedition 29 mission patch The ship depicted on the patch is the HM Bark Endeavour, the Royal Navy research vessel helmed by Capt. James Cook on his voyage of discovery. The ship symbolizes the station crew's continuing mission of exploration, following the spirit of Endeavour on her journeys. The ISS Expedition 29 patch was designed by Tim Gagnon and Jorge Cartes based on the direction of commander Mike Fossum and his crewmates.

I am really loving that the names of all crewmembers are on recent ISS patches. Truly awesome patch. And I really love the ship...it really makes me think of Apollo 12. |

Tim and Jorge... another fantastic design!! Also reminds me of the STS-49 maiden flight of Endeavour's patch. I too love that the names are going back on the patches. |

Nice patch, it is not Revin but Ivanishin. Seems like Sergei Revin is out of favor and might never fly! |

Tim and Jorge, congratulations for another really beautiful patch.Would you please explain the meaning of the stars? Interesting to see a special star dividing them into two parts. Thanks a lot. |

The stars were a special request from the crew. They will make the meaning known at a time of their choosing. The pattern isn't meant to be divided in any way. It's a single group of stars. |

Although I understand that it was completely inadvertent, the design similarities between the Expedition 29 and Apollo 12 patches (i.e. a ship trailing stars) will be a nice nod come November 2011 and the anniversary of the second lunar landing mission. |

Harald, there are only three different kind of stars on the patch (do not count the dots). When we are able we will explain it.Cheers guys and thank you for your kindly words... once again. It's very nice to hear you liked it. |

Jorge, Tim, as usual, great job. It shows what teamwork it takes to make a neat patch. I think I see a fathead in the making... |

Very striking mission patch. Nice to see His Majesty's Bark the Endeavour, commanded by Lieutenant James Cook during his 1769 to 1771 voyage, blazing across it.The earthbound HMS Endeavour as painted by Samuel Atkins. |
