Lego x Lunar Outpost

: We don't know what Lego and Lunar Outpost have planned, other than a "future product," but we are here for their collaboration. The Danish toy company revealed its partnership with the Colorado space robotics firm as the latter's first lunar rover left Earth for the moon. Lego did not share any other details, but did promise "more than a few surprises along the way," as its work together with Lunar Outpost blasts off "later this year."

Build your own Blue Ghost

: To land Blue Ghost on the moon, Firefly Aerospace laid out 14 major mission milestones from Earth to the lunar surface. To land your own Blue Ghost, you will need to follow 42 steps. The Blue Ghost Mission 1 Building Blocks Set creates a 1:18 scale model of the moon lander from 196 Lego-like pieces. The kit is specific to the current "Ghost Riders in the Sky" mission, featuring a few of the NASA-provided instruments.

Belyayev's 100th birthday 'candle'

: A new delivery of supplies is now on its way to the International Space Station with the launch of Russia's Progress MS-30 (91P) uncrewed cargo ship. The craft's fairing was decorated with logos celebrating the upcoming 100th birthday of the late cosmonaut Pavel Belyayev and the 60th anniversary of the world's first spacewalk on the 1965 Voskhod 2 mission he commanded. The launch shroud was jettisoned in flight.

Lunar Collection

: What got started as an apparel company contributing its insulation technology for use on a commercial lunar lander has now inspired the sale of limited edition clothing for the brand's second trip to the moon. In other words, Columbia Sportswear's Omni-Heat Infinity tech has come full circle. A new long-sleeve and a graphic tee celebrate Intuitive Machines' IM-2 lunar lander "Athena" and Columbia's role shielding the mission.

Athena's shoes

: Intuitive Machines' second Nova-C lunar lander, named "Athena," will deliver NASA and commercial payloads to the moon's surface on six footpads bearing mission-related designs on their undersides. Should Athena "stick" the landing, the recently-revealed pad prints (including the IM-2 mission patch and the names of all of the company's employees) will be embedded in the lunar regolith (or moon's top soil), hidden forever from view.

Duke's donation

: The Cosmosphere space museum on Tuesday (Feb. 11) announced that astronaut Charlie Duke, the tenth man to walk on the moon, has gifted the Kansas institution with 15 flags he flew on Apollo 16 to the lunar surface in 1972. The banners were among the contents of Duke's personal preference kit aboard the lunar module "Orion." The Cosmosphere plans to add one flag to its collection and then decide what to do with the other 14.

Blue Ghost on the moon

: As of 2:34 a.m. CST (0834 GMT) on Sunday (March 2), the moon is home to a new spacecraft. Firefly Aerospace successfully landed its first Blue Ghost, becoming just the second company in history to safely reach the lunar surface. Blue Ghost is now a platform for 10 NASA-provided payloads and first-of-its-kind demonstrations, which will operate for a full lunar day (14 Earth days), ending with a sunset at Mare Crisium.

MoonSwatch 1965

: The numbers "19" and "65" are visible (in both white and UV light) on Swatch's new MoonSwatch as a nod to the year that NASA first qualified the Omega Speedmaster for use on U.S. spaceflights. The MoonSwatch 1965 features both vintage and modern details, borrowing its white dial from the Speedmaster first introduced in 2024 and Omega logo from the 1964 original. The MoonSwatch 1965 goes on sale for $270 on March 1.

Ad Lunam iterum

: A year after landing the first commercial spacecraft on the moon, Intuitive Machines' second Nova-C lander is on its way to the lunar south pole. "Athena" lifted off atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on a path to reach Mons Mouton on March 6, beginning 10 days of lunar surface operations. Among Athena's payloads are two rovers, a "hopper," a NASA-provided drill, the first data center on the moon and a 4G/LTE network demo by Nokia.

'Apollo 1'

: The Boulder International Film Festival in Colorado will host the premiere of the new documentary "Apollo 1" on March 15. The film tells the story of astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White and Roger Chaffee, who died when a fire swept through their spacecraft during a test on the launch pad. Directed by Mark Craig ("The Last Man on the Moon"), "Apollo 1" includes members of the crew's families, some of whom plan to be at the premiere.

Houston, we have 'Moonwalkers'

: Space Center Houston on Friday (Feb. 14) opened "The Moonwalkers: A Journey with Tom Hanks," a new immersive film that envelops viewers in NASA's past and future missions to explore the lunar surface. Making its U.S. premiere after more than a year at 59 Studio's Lightroom in London, "The Moonwalkers" has been adapted to fill the walls and floor surrounding Space Center Houston's five-story-tall screen.
