This shirt and trouser set was used by astronaut Don Lind during training as a member of the Skylab II (SL-3) and Skylab III (SL-4) back-up crews. Manufactured by Welson and Co., Inc. on May 9, 1972 (shirt) and January 18, 1973 (pants), both were specifically tailored to Lind's size. The golden brown color was a result of the materials chosen by the crew: Durette and polybenzimidazole (called PBI, "We couldn't pronounce it either," quipped Skylab pilot Joseph Kerwin), which was fire-resistant but more comfortable (or less "itchy") then the Beta cloth used for Apollo garments.
The pants can be made into shorts by the pull of a zipper.
