Console Monitor Faceplate

Location: Mission Control Center
Comment: In 1996, the original Mission Control Center was
designated a national landmark.

This faceplate was once part of a CRT console used in the Mission Control Center (MCC) at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas (formerly the Manned Spacecraft Center). Due to the real-time nature of mission management, it was necessary to design the MCC with consoles that permitted quick and easy servicing of equipment. Individual panels could literally be yanked out by their handles and replaced.
