Hello, I'd appreciate a little information about something I bought this weekend: a folder from the John F. Kennedy Space Center with a photo of the Saturn V being rolled out of the Vehicle Assembly Building on the front. Inside: - a letter from Kurt H. Debus (printed signature) welcoming people to the launch of Apollo 8, with details about mission briefings, bus pick-ups, and tours;
- a Sunday, December 15, 1968 Release #68-208 about the mission;
- Space Sheet Vol. 6, No. 22;
- a brochure of the NASA Directory of Services for the Public;
- KSC Launch Complex 39 Facilities Fact Sheet 03;
- a booklet on the John F. Kennedy Space Center: America's Spaceport; and
- a neat Apollo 8 Mission Analyzer two-sided wheel from Raytheon.
There were also two laminated Guest passes for the viewing stand with clips attached, but I assume that they did not come with the folder but were added after the launch.I'd like to know: - If I am correct in thinking that this is not a particularly rare item, with thousands being given out on that day;
- if the Raytheon wheel came with the folder or was added later; and
- if anything is missing from this launch day handout folder, or if this is the complete set given out that day.
Thanks very much for your experise.Steve Edited by stsmithva on November 04, 2007 at 10:28 PM. |

Congratulations on your purchase! Those are some neat items. I would say that Apollo 8 is an important mission, so many collectors do like these items (demand higher than supply). Ken Havekotte may know exactly what items might be missing. You may try to get the nicer items signed by some of the crew like James Lovell. There is a fee involved, but you may like to do that anyway. Hope this helps. Tahir | |
