I was lucky enough to be at the Newseum in Washington D.C. in July of 1999 when the entire Apollo 11 crew sat down for an interview in front of a live audience. It was a great discussion that opened somewhat awkwardly when the interviewer set Neil up to quote his famous line when he stepped onto the moon. Neil cleared his throat uneasily and actually recited the "One small step" speech verbatim (with the "a" as I recall).
I was wondering if anyone here has ever seen or heard of a video of this event being made available. The setting was a working TV news type studio with plenty of cameras rolling, but I have no idea where they were feeding to.
Unfortunately, not long into the discussion, Collins ducked out to catch a flight home, but I felt it was pretty obvious he wasn't too comfortable being there to begin with.
I would have thought that such a historic interview couldn't get by without being recorded, unless the participants requested such.
Any insight would be appreciated...
