Has anyone purchased the new single-mission Space Shuttle DVDs from Spacecraft Films? I've ordered everything Spacecraft Films has produced so far (including revised sets), but I just can't get excited about these DVDs for some reason. Perhaps it's because the shuttle missions don't have the same magic as the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo missions. Or, perhaps it's that they don't provide the complete coverage of the missions are the sets for the earlier missions. Any other thoughts? |

These are just now starting to ship, so I doubt anyone has received any at this point. While the Space Shuttle: First Flights sets will contain all of the TV transmissions and onboards from the first four flights, it just isn't commercially feasible to do individual sets for each space shuttle mission with all of the material from each mission. We're actually doing these sets based upon conversations I've seen online concerning the desire to have some material from these missions. As the program comes to a close, perhaps they will take on a different feel, particularly if there is a long period with no native U.S. manned space flight. |

I'm pleased to hear that the full TV and onboards will be included. I assumed that they would not be since the product descriptions say mission "highlights." I will be curious to see how well these sell as opposed to the earlier mission sets. I hope they do well, as it will help SF to do more of their great work. Before it is over with, I will probably end up with these sets too. |

I think you may have mis-interpreted Marks comments. Full transmissions and onboards are included in the "First Flights" set, covering approach/landing tests and the first four spaceflights. The sets I believe you are referring to are those covering STS 26/27/29, which are highlights. |

You are right. I did indeed misread his reply. Thanks for pointing that out.I have already pre-ordered the "First Flights" set (STS 1-4). It's the individual sets that I was questioning in my original post. |

The Spacecraft Films' website has been updated to announce that "Coming Soon" (next month) will be the next installment in the Shuttle Series STS-5 through STS-8. |
