I have a collection of signed astro/space books and I have just purchased a Frank Borman signature on a bookplate to go into a copy of his book "Countdown".

I'd like to put the bookplate into the book but I don't know if I should stick the bookplate right onto one of the intro pages or mount it some other way in the book (eg photo corners). Anyone else had the same dilemma or ideas on the best way to proceed?

Your advice would be much appreciated.

thanks
rochelle

Don't stick-
There really isn't a reason to stick the sticker in the book. I have used the picture holder triangles on top of a post-it note to hold bookplate in place. Later when I found a better condition book or one that was a special print/fist edition I moved the bookplate, but I never attach it to the book.

thanks jam1970, great point about being able to move the signature to a better copy of the book. i hadn't thought of that.

the picture holder triangles on top of a post-it note is a great idea!

thanks again for taking the time to post and have a merry christmas!

thanks

I totally agree with jam1970. There is no reason to stick it. Really nothing to gain. Sounds like a nice collection- good luck with it!

Agreed, Do Not stick it. You may have another inspiration to stick it elsewhere, and not when someone else pisses you off... HA. There's always a better idea.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I agree -- not to stick is the best idea. I will obtain some photo corners and mount it in the front of the book pending a better copy or a better idea.

If it was me, I wouldn't even attach it with those photo corners. I wouldn't attach it to the book at all. I'd treat the bookplate as a separate item, and still hope to get the book itself signed at some point. But that's just me blabbing.

If you put each photo corner on small post-it you can easily peel it off without damaging the book or the bookplate. I attach the bookplates in this way because sometimes the plate falls out of the book simply by taking the book off the shelf.
