This picture was taken inside the Motel that I stayed in (1985) when I was visiting the Rockwell Plant. This motel was just across the street from the Rockwell Plant where they were building the space shuttle. Many astronauts stayed at this motel... just look at the pictures on the wall. (Young, Crippen, Engle, Grigs, Bluford and many more.)
Did anybody ever visit this place?... Does it still exist? I'm just curious. Henk Boshuijer |

Yes, Hank - the Empire Motel is still there. The pictures are faded- but the memories never do. It is right in front of the plant and the back faces the new Columbia Space Center that is almost finished here. I have stayed there a few times- but the TV does have an ...ahem.. .all adult station on the menu there now. There are still a couple of hotels and motels that have their space pictures up. J.M.
