Has/is the ATHLETE Rover been cut from NASA's funding? I see that JPL is currently testing, but is this one of the pieces of Constellation that is proposed to be cut, but NASA has to continue testing until it is officially cut, or if it hasn't is there a time frame for launching? Many thanks for any insight! |

Like other aspects of the Desert RATS program, ATHLETE is funded and managed by NASA's Exploration Technology Development Program, which has supported Constellation but is not part of it. NASA Administrator Charlie Bolden has said projects under Desert RATS will continue as technology demonstrators. Other projects like ATHLETE that fall under this category include the newly-renamed Space Exploration Vehicles (SEVs), formerly known as the Lunar Electric Rover (LER) or Chariot. | |
