Just seen on the BBC that Piers Sellers has been awarded an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the New Years Honours List. Dr. Sellers is one of only five UK-born people to have flown into orbit so far - out of some 500 in total across the world."It is a tremendous honour, and I'm really glad that the whole business of spaceflight has been recognised in the UK," he told BBC News. |

Congratulations to Piers! Dr. Sellers is one of only five UK-born people to have flown into orbit so far - out of some 500 in total across the world.. I think the BBC have got that wrong. UK-born people to have flown into orbit: - Helen Sharman
- Mike Foale
- Piers Sellers
- Nick Patrick
- Richard Garriott
- Box Johnson
I make that six. |

Let's hope that when Dr. Sellers comes to Britain to collect his OBE, he'll try to convince the government to do a lot more to get involved in human spaceflight. |

Does this make him a "Piers Of The Realm"? |

When he goes to the Palace for his gong I hope the catering people take account of his favourite foods. He told me he used to be very fond of 'a curry and a Kit Kat'! |
