I just found out that I'll be spending two weeks in Austin in early December. My weeks are all filled but I'll have one weekend completely free. How far of a drive is it to JSC from Austin? Is it an easy drive? This will probably be my only chance to see JSC so I'd like to go if it's not going to take most of the day to get there and back. Google Maps says 3 hours. How correct is that?
Thanks!

You're looking at 3.5 hours

JSC lies to the south of Houston proper. There are no direct interstate routes from Austin to Houston and the stretch on I45 down to JSC can be pretty packed depending on the time of day, so I'd budget three or four hours.

Many thanks for the help. Looks like I won't be making it there this time.

US Hwy 290 runs from Austin to Houston. As Liz said, your looking at about a 3 1/2 hr drive..
