Last year I posted that I wanted to go to JSC (I Did), promote the space program (two letters at least to our Senators) and help arrange for an ex or current astronaut to appear in our area ( I did- Dick Gordon- Larry M. made it happen too). So for 2004, I will need to do the same or better. Since I can't afford to head all the way out to CA to a great event in Sept, I'll head down to KSC and go to the Astronaut Hall of Fame Inductions ( use my AAC free passes to the visitor center) and help arrange for a current astronaut to appear at my sons school. As I did last year, I put the call out to everyone at CS to promote all aspects of space exploration and try to promote it in your kids schools, colleges, community organizations and muesums. Get your collections out and show kids what they mean to you. Help arrange for a current or ex astronaut to appear in your area. (email me and I can offer suggestions as to how to get it done). Help support the best hobby in the universe. Good luck to all and have a safe and joyus new year! |

It was only a small thing,I met the Shaylar guys at Autographica the other month and they told me that they go round the schools talking to the kids about space etc. I got a leaflet off him and my daughter gave it her head teacher at school. Hopfuly the head will contact the Shaylar's and arrange a visit and maybe some of the kids might take an interest in the subject. all the best Ian |

I have become involved in a four day space event to be held in my home town in June 2004.The organiser has asked if i would be interested in showing some of my collection and im quite looking foward to it. I took some of my collection into a school class earlier this year and the kids loved it. David. |

The state of Oklahoma, in which I am proud to say I now reside, has produced alot of astronauts over the years...I would love nothing more than to be able to bring an astronaut to my kids' school here in Yukon. Any information would be helpful. Brian |

I arranged phone interviews with Ed Mitchell, Dan Brandenstein, Kathy Thorton & Dale Gardner for some students at a school in Toronto. The teacher had originally placed a post here on cS. All I did was send a few email requests to a handful of astronauts and they graciously gave of their time. The feedback I received from the kids and the teacher afterwards was very gratifying! It's also fun to volunteer at your kid's school to talk about the space program and bring along some of those trophy autographed NASA photos to talk about. Wonderful opportunity! Bryan is right - it's amazing how many people we can touch when we try! Best, Bruce |
