I was browsing and found an excellent image taken by the IKONOS observation satellite .It is a 1-metre resolution view of the London Greenwich 'Millennium Dome' and surrounding area.
What stunned me though was the gas tank a few hundred feet away from the Dome.
On it you can clearly read the owners name of the gas tank - TRANSCO - painted on its top !! Cars and trucks are readily identifiable.
Other images released by IKONOS companies into the 'free,non-commercial' arena show cities around the world including Madrid,Frankfurt,Munich and Paris - all at the 1-metre resolution.
The Frankfurt image is excellent too since it has a number of skyscrapers and large red construction cranes in its view. The quality is almost unbelievable.
Perhasp thsi may be a new collecting theme - 1-metre resolution images of cities of the world from space?
