Hello All.. I had the good fortune and distinct pleasure to attend Chris Kraft's booksigning in Vero Beach,Florida yesterday. What a great day. Many CollectSpace members and list members were present.Dr. Kraft spoke for a full ONE HOUR and 20 minutes. Even then he was clearly eager to keep fielding questions!! He shot from the hip and he was hip when he shot. He was refreshingly straight forward and opinionated. No "sitting on the fence" here and the audience appreciated his honest views. He was rewarded with spontaneous applause several times. The years have not dulled his memory ,humor and sharp wit. What a total joy he was !! I did not fully know what to expect but my expectations were far exceeded. Dr. Kraft was also free and generous with his time and accomodated everyone with his signature, conversation and allowed photos of himself with attendees..no problem. He signed many items despite the sore hand from all his recent booksignings. The Vero Beach Book Center did their usual great job and were wonderful hosts.Several CS members also went to for a late lunch together. Good friends, good food, engaging conversation and spending an afternoon with a true NASA legend....it does not get any better than that !! If you have an opportunity to attend one of the cities on his book signing tour....GO FOR IT !! You will be handsomely rewarded !! Donald Brady |

I'm jealous Don! While I had a great time last Thursday, I wish he'd been given more time to talk & answer questions. Was the bookstore's call not his & was a wonderful evening as it was. Sounds like yours was even better though. What a giant of a man! ------------------ Happy trails, Wayne Edelman "Take sides! Always take sides! Oh yes, A good time was had by all! As Donald pointed out, this kind of thing is what it is all about! Mr. Kraft was wonderful to everyone, and an added bonus was many of his old compatriots who came to see him after so many years....Heard a lot of great stories this day!Tom Edmonds |

That sounds great! From the description it sounds like he handled the book signing like Alan Bean did when I met him. He would spend about 5 minutes chatting with each person, it took a long time to get through the line, but it was worth it. Hey Chris, come to Seattle!!! Tom |
