Dear oh dear; the movie that ignited all these moonlanding conspiracies theories is about to hit the silver screen again as a sequel to the original version that starred amongst others Elliott Gould, OJ Simpson and James Brolin. News at:

At least the fake Mars Landing should have better FX this time.

I really enjoyed the original movie as a kid - and probably still would if I saw it again.

It's the people who didn't seem to understand that it was 'just a movie' that have the problem. Even as a kid, while it made me think about what might be possible for governments to get away with, and how budget cuts might make people do desparate things, I never thought that the movie was actually telling me something real! It was entertainment, pure and simple.

Fingers crossed that any remake, if it happens, is similarly done as entertainment, and doesn't try and get too "what-if"...

Very little mention of it on the web right now; nothing on the IMDB, even.

Over the years I've had a few friends and relatives ask me if the moon landings could have been a hoax. These are intelligent people asking in honest, inquisitive tones: Isn't it possible for the landings to have been a huge put-on? I think films like 'Capricorn One' did indeed plant those proverbial seeds of doubt. All you need is a studio and a camera... maybe Apollo WAS faked after all!

Fun movie, although it sure was better when I was ten!

The original movie was really one of my favourites when I was a kid. At the same time I was a huge space fan. I can honestly say that it never even occurred to me at the time that some people thought the real moon landings were faked and saw the movie as related to this.

If they do decide to make a "Capricorn 2" movie and if they do acquire OJ Simpson as a co-star, they could just change the name of the movie to "If I Did Land On Mars" and please everyone.

One thing's for sure, If Orenthal is in it it's sure to be a "killer" movie at the box office.
