For those going to the Burbank show, or those that live in the area- Is this museum worth the drive? I would love to see Gemini XI. Is there anything else of note to see at this museum? If I do decide to go it would be on Friday- would a taxi cab be the best way or should I rent a car? Would anyone staying at the hotel like to try and arrange a hotel shuttle to the museum? Jay |

One of the most unique museums in the world is La Brea Tar Pits in downtown Los Angeles. There are only two places like it - one in Los Angeles, and the other somewhere in France. It has a roiling lake of tar (methane is exuded thru the ground) and the largest collection of Ice Age fossils in the world. I highly recommend it. The other museum worth seeing is the Getty, no explaination warrented. It is probably the most impressive private collection of incredible art in the world. Regarding Space et al, I cannot recommend one. Sorry. With all of Los Angeles' incredible history of Aviation and Space, we have not been very diligent in preserving or showcasing space and aviation. The Museum of Flight in Santa Monica closed last year. Good luck and good hunting. ------------------ Nessa |

I second the motion about seeing the incredulous JPaulGetty museum. But you must call in advance for a reservation and show ID when arriving at your approx. scheduled time. Well worth the drive though. | |
