I met alexander volkov and alexander Martynov(he spent most of his time in tsup(russian mission control). he was the only one that coiuld speak english.
I managed to get them to sign a picture of MIR(for £10 of course. they charged) and i managed to get a picture with both of them. But i had to come back latter on to get it. I had to pick up the courage to ask. When i asked them they had no quams about it. they got up and did it. I shook volkov's hand amd I also told them how much i admired there space program. It was wonderfull. Mission acomplished. Not as good as other peoples experiences but just fine for me.

ASCAN, it sounds as if you had a good time and got an autograph to boot. Congrats!

Just a small clarifcation: Martynov was never a cosmonaut (or a candidate) but as you said, worked in the TsUP. He currently is the Head of the Foreign Relations Department for the Administration of the City of Korolev, and he often markets himself and a real cosmonaut (in this case Volkov) as "two cosmonauts available for lectures."

Their trips are usually underwritten by local schools or businesses, though which they frequent the States about twice a year.

Where were they that you saw them?
