Just noticed an Apollo 11 cover with autopens of Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins just went for $255 (eBay no 235612002171).

It's a nice cover but that seems a bit steep for autopens, am I missing something or is that the going price now?

Perhaps on the high side, but it is an attractive cover with official "signatures" going to someone who can't yet obtain an original crew signed.

It does seem high, but as astrobock noted, it would be the next best thing to an original crew signed cover by having autopens.

Another small factor would be that the autopen-signed cover is a nice official NASA cachet (ONC) with a KSC-M launch date. The layout of the Apollo 11 ONC is nicely done by dark crew signature placements, a good cachet impression, along with a clean and unaddressed launch cover.

Two years ago I tried to obtain a Neil Armstrong autograph. I successfully avoided a scam and three fakes, lost out in auction on a Zarelli authenticated signature, and failed to negotiate a price on a second authenticated one.

So I turned to NASA autopens on eBay as an alternative. After being the underbidder on three auctions, I finally won one with an offer of $201. And these were all single Armstrong autopen covers.

Therefore the price of $255 for an Apollo 11 crew autopen signed cover seems very reasonable, cheap even!

All times are CT (US)
