I don't know if anyone else saw it or not, but a two man crew is going for an altitutde world record in an open gondola on a baloon, with T-6 hours and counting as of this writing. Here is the news article: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&cid=570&u=/nm/20030901/sc_nm/leisure_balloonists_dc&printer=1 And here is the crew's website: http://www.qinetiq1.com/index.html Good luck, gang!!! |

Thanks for the links Richard. I'll be following this tomorrow. If everything goes on schedule it looks like they'll reach the peak at about 7am CDT Wednesday. |

Sorry guys,The attempt was cancelled at about 7.45am this morning here. I had to leave for work but the reporter was talking about a leaking seam on the balloon. Attempt apparently put back to next year. Steve |

The balloon envelope sprang a tear along a seam. As a consequence, launch is off and is on hold until next year now when repairs completed. Phill
