From The Museum of Flight in Seattle, WA: quote: On November 14, 1969, a mighty Saturn V rocket blasted off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, carrying three brave explorers skyward on their quest to become America’s second successful mission to the Moon. The astronauts of Apollo 12 — Alan Bean, Pete Conrad and Dick Gordon — did succeed gloriously, and now, thirty-six years later, NASA has decided to honor them with “Ambassadors of Exploration Awards.” These awards each contain an actual Moon rock returned to Earth by each astronaut’s respective mission. Nancy Conrad, wife of the late Charles "Pete" Conrad, third man on the Moon, will present the Moon rock to the Museum.
Saturday, November 18, 2 – 3:30pm. Event is free with museum admission. For more information, see the museum's website. | |
